Let's play a game called 20 Questions! Do you want to see how it works? Watch the NBC interview and hear what those students are saying about their experience with Mystery Skype.
Your class will play against students in another city, state or country. The goal of the game is to guess where the other class is located. Each class will arrive at the meeting with a list of 20 questions. Think about questions that will help us solve where the other class is located. Do you think you can do it? I do too! Here are the steps for this activity:
- Your teacher will assign a job to each student in the class. Let's all work together to get the job done.
- In your small group, think of 20 questions which will help our class deduce the geographical location of the mystery class. Here are examples of question you may ask: "What is the typical weather like when it is summer in your region?. "Do you live in a city near a river or ocean?". What other questions could you ask?
- After your group has chosen your 20 best questions, someone from your group will list them on the class Padlet.
- To learn how to use Padlet, go to the Student Resources page.
- Once all groups have put their lists on the class Padlet, we will discuss as a class which questions we want to use. Each group should be prepared to explain why your group chose a question if something needs clarification.
- An official list of question will be posted on the Class Padlet. You may click on the picture below to view our Class Padlet.
- The big day arrives and we have the amazing opportunity of meeting our Mystery Skype class. Our class Greeter will make an introduction for all of us and then the Questioner and Responder will get ready to fill their roles. Click on the picture below to learn about the importance of diversity.
- Our class photographers can upload the pictures taken from this project into our electronic portfolio, just click on the camera.
- Once the Mystery Skype is finished, our class will discuss what we have learned from this activity. Think about what you might want to do differently when we have another Mystery Skype. Click on the light bulb to answer a few questions about your experience.
Congratulations on completing your first Mystery Skype! Are you ready to plan our next activity? What would you like to solve?
